Hi guys! It’s Maya here! And today’s post is all about TRUTH and RECONCILIATION.

Reconciliation means repair friendship. For example, After years of conflict, the two parties have agreed to meet with the goal of reconciliation.

 

I long time ago, Canada started special school made for the indigenous peoples.

We called those residential schools, it is Canada’s biggest mistake, and we can’t change what happened in the past. The indigenous kids would be taken away from their families at a very young age, and if you tried to hide you’re kids, you would be sent to jail.   They would cut the kids hair and everything that was meaningful to their culture.

 

They would not be allowed to speak they’re language, or else huge consequences. Many people are still scarred by what happened to them, going to the schools have caused anger, alcoholism, and many terrible things.

The last ever residential school that was closed was only back in  1996, which was not that long ago. I think our school should read more stories and watch more movies and videos about residential schools more often.

Now people are looking for the dead bodys of kids, and there are  much more body then we expected, there are still many out there that we didn’t find yet .
